Leather-bound, bandanna-wielding bikers banded together for a bloody bash in Brisbane's inner north this morning.
Luckily, all of the blood they spilt went to a good cause.
The 150 motorcycle enthusiasts from South East Queensland had come to the aid of the Red Cross, who this week pleaded for donors to come forward after blood stocks reached dangerously low levels.
In a roar of motor exhausts, members of Brisbane Riders Club converged in Bowen Hills from 9am today, before travelling in convoy to the Springwood Blood Donor Centre to make the much-needed donations.
"This is a good opportunity for everyone to come together for a good cause," 20-year-old Jacob Cossart said.
"As motorcycle riders especially we're aware that we may end up in hospital in need of blood one day ... I guess to you have to do something to get something."
Yamahas, Harleys and Diamos lined Thompson Street, as their riders prepared to roll-up their sleeves for the cause.
"Riding is a freedom thing...for yourself...but this is a great opportunity for riders to unite to help others," Gavin Lind said.
Since the Red Cross issued a national appeal for donors last week, blood stocks have risen dramatically.
"But it is never enough," Queensland Blood Management program director Gina Clare said.
"Having a reliable, local supply of blood is a lifeline for patients, and I encourage all Queenslanders to donate blood where they can."
