Kurnalpi had to work hard to overcome a determined Kanowna to complete round four of the Eastern Goldfields Squash Racquets Association autumn mixed pennants competition.

Luke Jessop for Kurnalpi started the night well for his team by defeating his opponent Trevor Sparks in four sets 10-8, 9-6, 9-7, 9-5.

Kurnalpi teammate Brian Alexander then did likewise to Kanowna’s Peter De Groot, also winning in four sets 10-8, 5-9, 9-3, 9-5.

Third Kurnalpi winner for the night was Norm Clinch. He won a tough five-set match against Richard Argus getting over the line 2-9, 9-4, 8-9, 9-3, 9-2.

Kanowna’s only winner for the night was Peter De Groot who defeated Michael Gassmier in straight sets 9-5, 9-3, 9-2.

In other results Zanthus were too strong for Mullingar, Naretha overcame Fimiston, Carbine defeated Bulong and Widgiemooltha outgunned Binduli.

In B grade action Kurnalpi defeated Naretha, Binduli were too good for Zanthus, Carbine won a close contest over Bulong and Fimiston thrashed Widgiemooltha.

Individual winners included Fimiston’s Adrian Lockett and Tony Balnaves, Zanthus’ Nathan Abel and Binduli’s Pauline Carter and Lewis Meier.
