THE cream of Australian speedway talent is expected to roll into Kalgoorlie in November for a round of the World Series Sprintcars championship.
Speedway Promotions Australia has released its draft calendar for the 19-night national series that starts in Brisbane on November 8 and finishes in Sydney on January 17.
Kalgoorlie International Speedway has been slated to run round six on Wednesday November 26.
Traditionally the Goldfields has played a major role in the major speedway series that attracts Australia’s best and a sprinkling of race-hardened professionals from America.
Last November 30 travelling teams were in the region in an attempt to tame the Kalgoorlie track.
At the end of the night it was Queenslander and series rookie Peter Lack who held out a snarling pack of sprintcars to win the main event from national champion Brooke Tatnell of Sydney and Victorian David Murcott.
Established Kalgoorlie driver Scott Milling missed the cut for the main event after finishing seven in the B Main.
Former Kalgoorlie driver and now North Queensland resident Alan Haynes was 10th in the B Main.
In the past Western Australia has hosted the opening rounds of the series, but this year series organisers have changed the order of events.
After round one in Brisbane teams will travel south to Sydney before making the long haul across to WA and a two-night showdown at the Perth Motorplex.
Negotiations are still underway for another WA venue to host the fifth round before the cavalcade heads to the Goldfields.
From there the series will head to South Australia before two weekends in Tasmania.
