Dialling up sports equipment for local clubs

COOLGARDIE Soccer Club, Hannans Junior Sports Club, Goldfields Soccer Association and Kalgoorlie United Junior Soccer Club will receive new equipment thanks to the 2008 Telstra Assistance Fund.

The local clubs are among 1280 sports and community clubs from across Australiato benefit from the assistance fund this year.

It will provide them with essential equipment such as ball pumps, equipment bags, corner flags and goal nets.

Telstra's Central WA area general manager, Lloyd Morley, said the company was proud to continue to support grassroots and community clubs in Kalgoorlie.

“The Telstra Assistance Fund aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage participation in sport.

“I am delighted that Coolgardie Soccer Club, Hannans Junior Sports Club, Goldfields Soccer Association and Kalgoorlie United JSC will benefit from the program,” Mr Morley said.

“Grassroots clubs are the backbone of local communities. The support these clubs receive through initiatives such as the Telstra Assistance Fund helps them to continue the important role they play,” he said.

Launched in June with the support of some of Australia’s top athletes, the assistance fund provides equipment to swimming, soccer, rugby league, AFL and surf life saving community clubs. It has

contributed more than $6 million in sporting equipment to over 5000 clubs in the past six years.
