COMMUNITY bins will no longer be used in Kalgoorlie-Boulder after the City installed its new bulk bin service this week.
The community bins, found on street corners and vacant blocks, were removed on the weekend.
The bulk bin service is free to households.
Residents are eligible to use the bulk bin service once each year for household waste only.
The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder has 50 four-cubic metre bins available each week for the project.
Mayor Ron Yuryevich said residents could request the bins for further use during the year if required.
“Requests for additional services will be added to a stand-by list, and, depending on availability, residents may have access to an additional free bulk bin service,” he said.
“The bulk bins are for residential use only, and by having our contractor keep track of which bin goes to which house, we can monitor if anyone has been abusing the service.
“Each booking is connected to a property, and the contractor confirms that the property they are delivering to is residential.
“It is a very simple system to use – you ring and book your bulk bin, the contractor will deliver the bulk bin to your house, you fill it, and the contractor will return a week later and take it away.”
Residents can book their free bulk bin by calling Goldfields Builders Hire on 9091 5430.
